Out of Africa

Have mixed feelings about leaving Africa. My eyes watered when the officer stamped my passport with “exit”. Then as I was heading to the Karibuni Lounge I remembered the film “I dreamed of Africa” and Kuki’s famous say “We think we control this place, but this place controls us.” Indeed!

    1. As I am working with the UN I had the chance to be in places that sounded strange to people. But most of it in Africa: 1995 to 1996 in Laayoune, Western Sahara; 1997 to 2006 Arusha, Tanzania and Kigali, Rwanda; and then 2012 to 2016 in Entebbe, Uganda. Of all all its ups and downs, Africa has its own charm and magic that lives under your skin. I will miss the weather, the fresh food, the serenity of it, the kind of life we lived; a very quite life “Hakunah haja haraka Africa” no hurry in Africa.

      1. That’s wonderful… I’ve always wanted to travel to Africa… Maybe one day I’ll get that opportunity
